From Jennifer Kyrnin, your Guide to Web Design / HTML
Yesterday, I got a question from a reader asking me if it was possible to build a website that could be viewed by email. The short answer is no, but you can create an email message that is written in HTML and even looks like a website. My first article in this newsletter talks about how to write HTML newsletters. I also discuss using less popular keyword phrases to grow your page views. These are called long-tail keywords. And Darla has provided a great introduction to an alternative to RSS - Atom.

Did you know that I've been writing about HTML, CSS, and Web design since 1997? I have hundreds if not thousands of articles on the site that have just as much relevance today as they did when I first wrote them. You can find them by searching the site, or more simply by browsing my article library. And if you can't find the answer to your question, you can always suggest an article or ask a question in my Web design and HTML forums.

Do you want to send HTML newsletters?
When I first started building web pages, email clients only handled text. There was no bolding or images or anything fancy. But in the intervening years, HTML has become a great way to get your message across in a newsletter or via email. But it's not easy. Email clients handle HTML in different ways, and some people still request email as plain text only. This tutorial will help you write better HTML newsletters that work across more email clients.

Targeting less popular keyword phrases can be a winning stra
When you've written a brilliant article or created the best website ever, you want to shout it to the world. And many designers choose keyword phrases based on how popular they are. After all, if a keyword phrase gets millions of searches a day, one of them is bound to end up on your site, right? Unfortunately, most searchers never make it past page 1 of search. This is why focusing on long tail searches can be beneficial in driving readers to your site.

Do you know what Atom is?
The Atom syndication format is another way to syndicate your content that is similar to RSS. In fact, many blog programs will provide a feed in both Atom and RSS so that readers can choose the format they prefer. Do you have a preference? What is it and why?

Poll: When do you focus on SEO?
SEO or search engine optimization is important to sites that rely on search engines for traffic. But when should you do it? Is SEO something that should be thought about when planning a site or only when content is added? When do you think about SEO when designing websites? Vote Now View Results
