| | XML Schemas | Writing a Schema When XML first came out, there were DTDs (Document Type Definitions) that defined what the XML was going to look like and how it worked. But then along came the XML Schema language, a language written with XML. With this language, you don't have to learn a second format to define how your XML applications will work. | Complex Types A complex type in an XML Schema is an XML element that may have other XML elements within it. | Simple Types Simple types are elements that do not contain any other elements. They can only contain data. These are the "meat" of your XML document, as they contain the actual data that is being defined. | Class Notes | Get the Lessons This is a self-paced class.
